That’s exactly how it feels on the road too. The EC tune comes in with a wallop early on that’ll hold for a bit, then it’ll slowly taper down and finish off pretty calm near fuel cut. The peak power isn’t held very long up top and that’s definitely noticeable on the drag strip where I’d trap 94-95MPH, which puts me around ~175whp.

The Tork Tune builds power gradually and relentlessly until about 5k. From there, it’ll continue pulling to fuel cut without ever feeling like it’s cooling off early. It honestly reminds me of driving my old SpecV (2nd Gen.) that would pull hard right on up to fuel cut.

I really like how John has the power setup in relation with the pedal, it’s exactly how I want a car to feel and I wasn’t expecting it either. He has also tuned traction control from what I can tell, and it now lets you have some fun but without going too crazy. Torque vectoring is all there, it’s just the wheelspin that is affected as far as I’ve observed.

Just a note: WOT pulls are not indicative of all the characteristics of a tune, it’s just a single unary dimension of the full reality.

With all the lies and hyperbole out there you’d think the results would be drastically different. They weren’t. The truth is out there, go drive a Tork Tune and try it out, go drive an EC tune and try it out. Variety is the spice of life, stop the hate.

PS, someone buy my EC handheld so I don’t feel too bad about spending $1550US on tunes :-).

guess i’m still going with the Phase 2. I’m willing to take a couple HP loss to have the car sound like a drive by shooting. Also, any opinion on which of the two would be more reliable on a long hot track day?

lol, I'll eventually talk with John about adding some popcorn without the savagery of bangs, as much as I enjoyed the mortar it will definitely attract more attention than I want when having fun with the car. As for a track day, that's hard to say because at the top of the RPM range Tork runs more boost but EC runs more timing. Tork is a bit leaner up top and EC is a bit richer up top. I'd call it a draw to be honest...a lot of people call Tork's tune "aggressive" but they are so so so similar from what I can tell by the big three: Boost, AFR, Timing Advance.

Good compare. Didn't you have the Speedmotive tune too? How does that stack up?

EC's boost and timing strategy isn't the best.....peak boost down low (IAT's go up) and as IAT's go up combustion chamber temps go up preemptively pulling timing. After a few hot runs power is down. Big hit of power in the beginning is fun but meh it doesn't last and is boring. Stalls at stop lights which is what I have been hearing and owners are chalking it up to being that its just a part of the tune.

Tork's boost and timing strategy is how just about every tuner sets everything up. Progressive boost to keep IAT's in check through the rpm's also allows for the intercooler to do its job, not trying to ride knock control as a crutch out the top on timing. Gradual power keeps things lasting and is not a fun hater after a few hot runs. Also doesn't stall at stop lights....

Something to take away from this is you can always add boost but you never want to add boost and timing at the same time. The cylinder pressure multiplies and pistons break, rods bend, all of your worst fears happen.

Honestly i am seeing higher boost numbers than this on my phase 2 tune, but it may depend somewhat on methodology. I'm not having any stalls either. I did in the past bit that was due to impending valve lifter failure, it seems. With the new engine, nothing of the sort.

this has me thinking a bit on what tune to choose. i really want the bangs & the most reliable tune for heavy track use. sold my rrm stage 2.5 a month ago and i need to make a decision soon since i currently have no tune. The low end torque from the Phase 2 is a benefit coming out of low speed corners and i would rather run rich at high rpms on a track, but i have not decided yet.

Hate to bring up this can of worms....

Because I know how some on this thread stand, and I'm not trying to cast doubt on anyone's data ....

but ....

2wd dyno cutting power up top... it is a thing. Hard to compare tunes in the high RPM if they're not done on properly linked 4wd dyno... Knowing Greg, and having seen their test video, and my experience with this platform. I do believe that's a thing.
