2 DIN fascia

I’m working on a no cut solution for 2 din head units. I’ll put up more details once I’ve printed a final version I’m happy with. Spent yesterday routing wiring for nav, backup camera, obd datalink etc. Now focused on building a tidy harness for the head unit..

Here are some pics of the current fitment on a fast print. Im going to change the vent openings and fill in the gap a bit for the final.

Head unit is alpine ilx-107, with idatalink maestro box and harness

Will it only fit 193mm 2din or will it also fit 198mm units? There are a few shorty 198 mm units that run Android which would work in that case.

the ILX-107 is actually only 155mm deep and able to mount single DIN. Thats what the mount is made to support.. but can certainly be extended

Meant to write 173mm / 178 mm... referring to the diagonal opening on front. Pioneer/Alpine, etc use 173mm. The Chinese units (which include all android units) use 178mm. Which means if you want an Android unit, the faceplates sold by Scosche, which are 173mm, won't work. I learned this the hard way - had to do major refabrication on the quite expensive 2din kit I ordered.

Yes, I have this one fitting flush @172mm across the screen (~195mm diagonally), but I can probably expand it to anything withing the original envelope of 281x131mm; once it's begins to cover the mounting points it would need to become multiple pieces to mount the headunit. I took the path of least resistance so far and integrated the mounting into one piece, where I believe the scoshe snaps in the fascia separate from the unit

This looks interesting.... I don’t want a 2 din head unit, as I’m happy with my pioneer. But still want the 2 din mount as I have a project I want to do in the extra space.

Very interested in this.
I am currently sourcing parts for my DD conversion (well, call it a full audio / video overhaul); faceplate, Maestro RR, new HU, ESP-3 processor, Epicenter module, new 5 channel amp, and maybe a backup cam (can't seem to find a good spot to put it).

I bought the single din units of all of the major suppliers to see which one had the best match, and the look that I am going for.
I ended up with the Spiral audio DD rubberized face plate. I am not sure how the rubberized finish will hold up long term.
It matched and had the "best" vents (which isn't saying much) but the Scosche vents are worse. Meh
Hopeful that you come up with a good option.

i was holding out for an alpine ilx because of the one 1din mount, I knew it’d be easier to adapt. Also wireless CarPlay is nice, and Obd gauges are really nice, let’s me keep an eye on the factory wideband etc...
I’m also running all the maestro stuff, I ran my camera inside the car, to just under the third brake light; it’s not ideal, but it’s also not bad.. getting the cables through the waterproof sheath was a pig, and discovered a torn ground wire from factory.

The 2 HU that I've narrowed it down to are both single din chassis with DD faceplates. I think this will help with the lack of space behind a full DD HU.
Looks like there won't be a backup cam for me, lol.
