Engine Coolant Question

Post by JustPeachySav » Sat Mar 16, 2019 3:56 pm

So I was driving on the highway today and went to accelerate and the engine coolant temperature shot up all the way and the warning light came on it lasted not even for 2 seconds and then it went back to normal I scanned my car before I turned it off and everything was fine and temps were normal. Was it a fluke or is it something more serious?

Fluke... this for some reason happens to all Fiats at some point or other. I've had it happen twice - once with my 500 Sport, and again with my Abarth. Seems to be the sensors sometimes give erroneous readings for a split second, or something. Dealer will be able to do nothing, as it leaves no code behind and they don't seem to be aware this issue exists.

Dealer: So what kind of car is it?

Customer: 500 Abarth

Dealer: Who makes it?

Customer: Sigh.... Fiat

Dealer: Oh...

Worse, OP has a 500 Turbo.... "So it's a 500 Sport?" ... Yeah... "With a turbo?" ... Yeah... "Right."
