Is there not a good laptop/usb-based solution one can use for data logging?

You can use MultiECUScan with a USB OBD device.

I have a usb device somewhere laying around... An OBDLink SX. I have never really used it, it was bought to go with a head unit that *supposedly* supported USB OBD but in reality did not.

Paul you shouldn't have much of a problem shaking me off you tail. If every 10 pounds of weight is worth 1 hp, between my copilot, my spare tire, and my bag of tools, I'm giving up 30 hp right there. I got to drive the second day of the Dragon alone once and not having that seat filled really makes a difference. Good luck on your testing.

You're making it worse!!! It might actually be my driving that needs fixing ;)

Yesterday it rained a lot in the morning, so did actually finish installing my seats. Also flashed the car back to stock so it's ready in theory.

This morning I went for the first run. With the car all warmed up I was surprised at how well it drives even with a stock tune on it. The logging didn't go very well, as was suggested the frequency is a serious issue. Although a record is captured every 1/10th of a second the data points don't actually shift, which suggests that the KIWI isn't getting updated data at the rate that the app expects it.

I wouldn't waste your time though.

You should be getting a higher polling rate than that from the Kiwi. At least several updates per second is expected.

I don't think there is anything wrong with your driving Paul. You led our group the first time I drove the Sisters.

So after a week of heavy rains I was looking forward to getting back to this project, but the tools are still fighting me.

My KIWI3 might be broken, it doesn’t connect to the Kiwi app or Torque. It connects to Dashcommand sometimes but doesn’t log properly. My Android tablet has decided it doesn’t want to connect to anything any more. You turn on Bluetooth, and it says politely that it’s turning it off again.

I got a Banks iDash gauge to try but it only reads the engine displacement (that I entered). Apparently it needs an older version of firmware to work so there is still hope for that.

Anyway, trying to figure out what will work in my bag of things that aren’t quite working, so I don’t have to spend money on things that might work.

I have the “right” firmware for the Banks gauge so hoping that will be a good investment.

Went for a drive to ignore it all. At least my car is working.
