Updated 4C coils

Post by Romanoaf » Wed Mar 27, 2019 6:23 am

I ordered a set of coils from moparpartsonline, but I decided to run the 2015+ updated version for the 4C. They’re mopar branded, but made by Eldor; also a little cheaper than the earlier version- about $200 for the set.
I installed them last night, and the car was immediately less violent; seem to be performing well.

From my BMW days, Bosch coils were know to fail early and easily, I always had at least 2 spares; but the Eldor coils look to be lasting longer for BMW owners now. I believe Eldor is also the supplier for eu coils on the 595, although it’s different PN from the Alfa version.

Does anyone have any experience running the updated version quality wise?

I had a OEM Beru fail at 30,000 miles. Then bought Madness coils - one failed 7,000 miles in. Madness warrantied the set (which I sold).
I then bought 4C Bosch coils (before they were readily available).
Mine shipped from Europe, but I have had no issues.
Because coils seem to be problematic, a coworker & I went in halves on a new set of the 4C coils (as a backup for us).

Thanks for the info. Not sure how I feel about more MOPAR logos going into my FIat, at least it's not the Chrysler pentagram, sorry I mean pentastar.

You didn't fancy the Ignition Project ones then? https://www.ignitionprojectsusa.com/pro ... ip-a147402

I think all new parts are Mopar branded now. I’m sure the ignition project coils are awesome.. but I’m also cheap haha; which is another benefit of the updated coils

IP coils = no.
My Audi guys have tried them. Too many horror stories by people I know. They seem to last 1 month beyond the year warranty period & die.
IP will not sell singles, so you are left with a non full set or forced buy a new set altogether.
