Getting P0261 and P0351 Codes , Plus it won't Start

Post by sportfan » Tue May 05, 2020 7:41 am

After reading that the OEM coils aren’t the greatest and knowing that my Fiat’s mixture is very rich, I thought I’d try a set of 4C coils on my 13’ Sport. You read postings where many have installed them on Abarths and Turbos with good results. I know gains on a NA car wouldn’t be much but, maybe worth it. I pulled the oem coils yesterday and put the 4C’s on and the car wouldn’t start. I’m running a 680 CCA Antigravity battery and after several attempts I wondered if the battery had enough power to start the car. I had cranked it several times and it never fired up. I pulled the Antigravity out and put the charger on it for 12 hours. I put the lead acid battery back in and the oem coils and it still wouldn’t fire . I put a trickle charger on the lead acid battery overnight . Today I put a set of NGK Iridium spark plugs gapped to .035” ( I know some say go .040”). Then I put the oem coils back in and the lead acid battery. It cranked fine but, wouldn’t fire up. I hooked up my cheap little Bosch code reader and got 0261,0264,0267,0270 which are injection circuit low pressure ( something very close to that). I also had 0351,0352,0353,0354 which are all about the coils. I couldn’t get the codes to clear. I got disparate and sprayed some starting fluid in the intake ( which I don’t like to use ) and it fired up and ran for about 3 seconds. The big question now is what do I need to do to get the injectors running again? The car is running a dyno tune that worked fine before this.

Did you put the original plugs back in too?

I checked the schematic, the coils, injectors and cold start solenoid all share the same hot line at Fuse 17. That would be the first place I look. Also, the pinout on the coils from turbo to non turbo is different, so they might actually work, but you'd need to re pin the connector; thats not to say that they would receive the same signal voltage ETC...

Once I get the car running again this project is over. This can be shut down .

Let us know if it works out, you may have inadvertently ran 12v back to your PCMs signal output. Hopefully the signal that shorted to ground blew the fuse first though.

It blew #17 fuse. New plugs and the oem coils and it started right up. Thanks. I need to sell the 4C coils now.

Relieved you got running again. I guess you answered the 4C coil question though.

I have the coils sold. My loss on the last three Fiats projects that prove what won't work on a Sport has cost me over $300. I need a Go Fund Me set up.
