Re: Added some vents.
vent placement is crucial on hoods. if it’s places in a high pressure area it won’t do anything. the hood vents must be placed in a low pressure area of the hood to extract heat. it does help that your vents have alittle lip on the front to direct airflow up and over the vents, that should in itself cause a low pressure area for the air to escape.

Ultimately, does it matter to performance how hot the engine bay is if the fluid temps (air, oil, water, gas) aren’t any lower?

Re: Added some vents.
I believe so.
It will help the engine not get heat soaked. Aalow the intercooler to work effeciently to try to manage IATs etc.
In addition it will help preserve the battery, coils, electronics etc.

I'm not seeing that so far. Not much a difference really. Here are two videos using twine to try to demonstrate airflow. The first is with the water tray off. The second is with the water tray on. Speeds were't high, but were typical of how I drive.

i drove the car today and set my obd-II gauge to show intake temps. i removed the rain shield and allowed to vents to be open. i experience a 20 degree drop in intake temps just driving around and pushing it a bit.
