New Member-opinion wanted

Hi I’m a new member with a 2012 fiat 500 Gucci Convertible. I’m in need of opinions… my Fiat had about 80k on it when timing chain went this summer. Mechanic friend thinks the pistons and head are shot and that I’m looking at whole new engine. The car was previously my teenage sons. I kept it as I felt it would a collector vehicle and I just personally love it. Not sure what to do at this point. Is it worth it to fix it if the motor is shot or am I better off selling off the Gucci components? The vehicle is in good condition otherwise.
Thanks for the input!

Probably $2k-$3k to fix it yourself $4k-$5k for a mechanic. I think it's worth keeping it since you have an emotional attachment to it. However, you'll note that I've never managed to sell one of mine ;)
