How to make your FMIC fit without rubbing the bumper or condensor:
https://brokenfiat.club/forum/viewtopic ... oler#p2068

You may also certainly make your own FMIC. The main challenge people have doing this is the hot side charge pipe has a VERY narrow path to fit through to avoid rubbing on the downpipe, oil cooler, through the chassis, and then a very TIGHT bend to make that most people can't manage, to avoid the foglight. Most homebrew FMICs therefore end up deleting the foglights.

Thanks. I tried very hard to be impartial; but that was much harder than I imagined.

I think it's a start but, as a mod and a founder of this forum, I think you should add data if you are going to lend your name to it.

As you may recall, myself and others have had issues with the EC intercooler that go beyond what you stated.

- Fitment is atrocious (this is well-established)
- "kevtek" hoses are rupturing lately
- Performance numbers are not repeatable

An FMIC shootout would be ideal!

Thanks for the feedback; I'll happily incorporate it.

I had seen some of the hoses rupturing, but was only aware of one fitment issue. Do you have details? What the challenge is? I know with the ATM it's relatively large, and therefore gets close to the AC compressor, in addition there are some broad assembly tolerances with these cars that make it extra tight for some.

Not sure how I feel about criticizing them for this. Are any of the performance number repeatable? At least they have numbers. I agree though I've never seen repeated performance numbers, but I think that's true of any FMIC at the moment.

I need to find the time to do my own real world testing. It's just been a challenge of late.

All my data as far as who had ruptures and who had fitment issues was lost last week when FT shutdown. All I can speak to at the moment is my own experience, and my memory, which is...

- Lots of my grill had to be trimmed for the FMIC to fit. My installer -- a professional and shop owner -- marveled at the pile of plastic he accumulated once my bumper finally fit back on the car. My reading of FT led me to believe this was the norm.

- My hose ruptured. I believe three other instances were reported on FT. I'm sure there are many more.

-My IAT numbers were the same or GREATER with the the EC unit than stock. Same code. Same everything. My particular core sucks, it seems. On FT one other user reported similar results.

That's great info thanks. Part of my problem is I didn't pay close enough attention to the EC FMIC discussions, I have an ATM and therefore it's better (just kidding).

I'd heard that some intercoolers make you lose the foglights, is that the case with the EC one? Sounds like it sticks out forwards more into the bumper cover. The ATM fitment issues were more on the back side.

All the heavy-hitters seem to be using the ATM.

The fog lights stay.

Has anyone run the Airtech FMIC? I can't find any reviews on it.
