Re: Popabella - Just can't sell it.
Here’s the gap, so something is out of whack.
Need to remove the braided coolant line from in front of it. 10mm nut in the middle and a single torx bolt at each end. Then it’s just fastened with a 10mm bolt on the right and a big nut underneath. That’s maybe a 23mm but the biggest wrench I had was a 22 so used an adjustable wrench. Once everything is loose the hard pipes slide out to the right.
The two pipes look pretty much the same, but when installed the other one lined up perfectly. Also found a home for the stray electrical connector. It was obvious with fresh eyes.
Feels like we're getting close to testing now. Started putting new studs in for the maniverter.

Gack I hate installing studs in the head. Always makes me nervous that it's going to strip out the aluminum.

Re: Popabella - Just can't sell it.
After Madfiat put the idea in my head installing new studs became a laborious and stressful job, but successfully got them installed and torqued. Shiny new bolts but very old maniverter
We engineered a new clip for the clutch slave connection, since the clip is only available with a brand new slave cylinder (thanks FPT). No doubt I'll injure myself on that at some point in the future.
Grounds reattached. Battery box installled. Radiator support, radiator and condenser installed.
Have a new drier for the condensor but elected not to install it until I'm ready to put freon in (i.e. after the car is running)
Can't remember what this bolt is supposed to do on the MPX brace, so have some homework to go look at my 500 Abarth for clues.
Other than that we're getting super close to trying to fire her back up; and then probably take it apart again to find out what I did wrong.

Ah-ha there is supposed to be a brass part to hold the brake cylinder! I was wondering what that was!

Looking at the picture above , it looks like a crack in the master cylinder. I hope it is just a casting flaw.

It does I agree. That’s on the Abarth so worth checking out.

Seems okay, just a casting mark and shadows I think.

Re: Popabella - Just can't sell it.
A day of lessons today.
Lesson #1. Close the radiator drain plug before adding coolant.
Lesson #2. Just because the plug fits doesn’t mean it’s the right socket. Was getting a low brake fluid warning because that plug was plugged in to the top of the transmission and not the brake fluid reservoir.
Lesson #3. Trust yourself a bit. The car wouldn’t start. Sounded like the starter tried to engage the first time , but then nothing. I decided that the starter was connected incorrectly and disconnected everything. In hindsight I bet it wasn’t tightened properly.
I’ll fight with that tomorrow. Also the doesn’t seem to want to build any pressure. Going to focus on the starter first.

Re: Popabella - Just can't sell it.
The issue was the loose nut, the one on the starter and not the one writing this.
Oil is leaking out of the vacuum pump, and from somewhere on the passenger side.
Other than that we need to figure out bleeding the clutch.

Re: Popabella - Just can't sell it.
Switched out the vacuum pump for the other one, and the leaking stopped. So yay!!!
