Creating this post to track torque specs as we put stuff back.

flywheel-to-crankshaft bolts - six bolts tighten to 15 Nm (11 ft.lbs.). Using a star pattern, tighten the bolts an additional 40 degrees.
pressure plate bolts - 16 Nm (12 ft lbs)

engine mount bracket - six bolts tightened to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).

Vibration damper (under pully drive) - 19 ft lbs

Vertical Chassis Braces - 33 ft lbs

Today’s progress included removing the wiring, hoses and starter from the old engine. Spent quite a bit of time figuring out that the starter was bolted through the transmission.

Took it outside and cleaned most of the grease off the transmission, just to make it a bit nicer to handle.

We also removed the valve cover to peak underneath, but mostly to paint it.

I’m glad Lyle saw it. I was busy thinking it made no sense. I forgot that this car is also designed so that you need to remove the intake manifold to remove the valve cover, and you need to remove the AC compressor to remove the intake manifold.

Not much progress this weekend, stuck waiting on the single use bolts for the clutch.

Fabricated a tool to hold the flywheel. Since we don’t have the proper tool.

Painted the valve cover since the gaskets and seals for that came in.

Also painted the bolts to hold it down and I think it looks awesome.

A bit worried that now everything needs to be painted to match.; this might take a while!!!

We also stripped the head off the broken engine. No obvious signs of issues in the head, but the bottom end might have an issue.....

Got the new clutch installed. Had to chop 1/2 off the end of the alignment tool, and even the it’s still a bit of an eyeball.

Muscled the transmission back on. There is probably a trick to this but don’t know what it is. Two people helps.

Got the new starter bolt from the dealership, because why would FPT use a standard sized bolt on anything.....

Finished off the wiring harness and swapped the underdrive pulley for the light weight one from MPX. Torque specs were hard to find for that, but watching the videos everyone just uses an impact and hopes for the best. Moved the engine mount plate over.

Muscled the engine back into the general vicinity and then started connecting everything.

Wheel hubs are reconnected, but I'm waiting on a new axle nuts.

Ran into a new issue when the clip for the hydraulic connection to the slave assembly. The spring clip decided to exit stage left (or possibly right), so going to need to "engineer" a solution for that. The clip only seems to be sold as part of the slave assembly, which is annoying.

With the engine in place it looks like the coolant hard lines are out of place. The coolant hose that runs to the coolant reservoir is a couple of inches short and the hard pipe looks like it is bent forward a couple of inches.. So that's probably the next job, to figure out if they can be "adjusted" back into place or to see if I can reuse the ones from the old engine.

Also need to try to figure out what this connector goes to. It's on the wiring behind the coolant reservoir, but doesn't seem to reach anything. Can't be that important.......
