Has Anybody Owned Rota Wheels ?

Post by sportfan » Thu Dec 27, 2018 8:16 pm

I'm looking for the lightest wheels I can find that won't break in the first pothole I hit. The Rota are the lightest ones I've found yet. Anybody used them with any luck good or bad ? I need 16" x 7 " 4 x 98. I have Otis studs and won't use wobble bolts. I know the Rota aren't the best made but, they have a new line of wheels coming out soon that are lighter and stronger than their current wheels. I hope to find something before Twisted Sisters in April.

I live in a small town with only about 6 tire shops. I keep asking all my gearhead friends "Who can you trust to mount tires and not damage your wheels ?" Nobody can recommend any of them. I hate to spend that much per wheels because of this and how easy they break if you hit a rock. I know , don't hit rocks or potholes. I had a wheel damaged by our Walmart and they wouldn't make good on it. I would really like a set of those RPF-1's in black.

Ask Jordan at EC where he gets his wheels done. He’s not far from you.

I got them in. Now to get them on. 30 pounds less weight ( when carrying the spare) on the car. Next on the list is a EC dyno tune.

Most of that weight is unsprung weight too, so you should be able to feel some difference in the cars responsiveness both in acceleration and handling. It was hard enough shaking you off my tail last year at the Sisters drive, it's going to be near impossible this year.

As far as tire shops, I was very nervous about handing over my Braid wheels. I ended up going to Autodynamica in The Woodlands. They primarily do aftermarket maintenance on Ferraris, Lambos, Bentleys etc. It cost a few dollars extra, but it wasn't crazy money and worth the price of admission to look at some of the cars they had. They were also very cool about working on a Fiat 500 Pop.

Good to know. There are more dings on my factory 17s from Discount Tire than there are from road hazards. The first ding at 4000 miles they were willing to comp me for. After that it's very hard to prove that the damage wasn't already there.

This can be deleted. I've got a set of them now.
