I ended up removing the oil psi sending unit and connecting a tank filled with pressured up oil to it. Then the motor fired right up. so the oil pumps aren't self priming and they can lose prime.

Super glad you figured that out. Do you have any pictures of the setup, or how you attached it to the sending unit?

I was just reading that the pressure switch has a lock pack on the threads and you're not supposed to resinstall it. Mine has been reinstalled at least 4 times now.
