DIY shift link bushing

Had my first taste of linkage failure last week, managed to feather the car to work and then home in 3 and 4.

I ordered a set of bushings from bushingfix, but In the meantime CAD’d up a replacement version.

Printed with Nylon or similar flexible, high heat material; it should hold up no problem.
I can make the files available if anyone is interested.

I bet a lot of people would be interested in that if it holds up.

That's very cool. Don't need it right now but an interesting solution.

I'm definitely interested in the files as I was considering doing the same thing (printing), now I won't have to take my car apart first to get dimensions!

Do you have a step file or a drawing with dimensions? I might be able to convince my machinist at work to run off a few sets out of a harder material.

I think that I would be in if your machinist would run a few sets.

I had to use a bit of heat and a C clamp to get it in to both the linkage and the ball joint but once it’s in, it feels very solid

I love the DIY projects!

Will keep this in mind. GF has a 3d printer, not fancy but should do the job. If I need a bushing I know where to go now.
