I haven’t modded my Abarth in a while but I’m getting back into it... where is everyone posting these days?

Most of the action is on Facebook, the BrokenFiatClub Facebook group is pretty busy. I try to post more linear stuff and stuff that is useful for reference in the forum.

That sucks. I’m not on Facebook. Thanks for replying!

There are a few of us still clinging stubbornly to the old formats :). If you post here I promise to read it. I try to link stuff posted here to the Facebook group too.

Yeah it seems the heyday for forums is past. Regardless we cling ;) ...

It’s a shame, on the other forums and it’s getting tired when the first reply to most questions is “why would you want to do that”, or “take it to the dealer”
I’m not on FB either, so it’s nice to have this repository of info.

I don’t get it tho... what does Facebook bring that a forum or listserv doesn’t have?

I think it's just convenience, i.e. it mixes your car life with the rest of your life. Also if you don't like a group then you can just go create your own :)

It's easier to make a post I think, don't have to worry about where it should go, adding pictures is simpler usually.

It's cheaper obviously. It doesn't cost a huge amount for MadFiat to host this site, and the voluntary donations usually cover it but it does cost something.

Personally I find it annoying for most things, it's almost impossible to search and find what you need easily. It's good for parts sales, asking for referrals and the usual "look at me" stuff or at least that's what I use it for. I think those things work well because there are just more people looking.

I'm kind of okay with the jibber-jabber on Facebook and having the more meaningful content in a forum. I do worry that something will come along that will supplant Facebook, as Facebook did to MySpace, and we'll lose a whole lot of information again.

Thanks for engaging thoughtfully, Brit. (I don’t know your real name)

I gave in and joined FB yesterday solely for the purpose of engaging with Fiat people. You’re right, it’s a horrible system for dong “this”, but if you can’t beat ‘em...

I think forums are just not well known in these days of "single signon" social media. People don't like to go outside of the little gardens they've gotten accustomed to.
