So got the Kiwi3 working with a new android tablet, but it has the same issue as dash command <sigh>

I'll try switching out the PLX for an ODBLink MX+ and see if that works.

I did do some pulls today, just for practice.

I think I have it figured out.

Found a setting that sets the polling interval to synchronous. So basically it waits for a sweep of the PIDs and then runs again. Maybe not as fast as I want, but at least I don't see all the duplicate entries from polling before the OBD2 port is ready.

Got some data. It's a start. Decided to do pulls in 3rd gear to see what that looks like. 2nd gear is over too quickly and 6500rpm in 4th is too fast for the roads I'm testing on.

It's interesting to see the boost psi fall away even though I know the turbo is capable of more.

I was also interested in how linear the acceleration is. Doesn't feel that way, especially as the boost comes on. The car feels like a slug at first and then feels like it accelerates hard as the boost comes on.

I did the runs with ESC on, forgot to turn it off. Not sure there is enough power here to cause it to interfere.

I'll stick a tune on next and see if it moves the needles at all.

Good pull. Thought the boost looked a little low but then realized that was stock. What do we get next?

Mostly you'll hear complaints about the heat in the garage. I've been primarily distracted by my new toy though.

The plan is to flash a tune onto the car and do the first comparative run.

It's been a while since I've thought about this. So long in fact that the Abarth didn't want to start this morning. Dead battery and no oil in the multi-air.

Anyway I re-reran the stock tune with the ESC off and less items in the data collection (hoping for better OBDB2 response). The car didn't seem to bounce off the limiter as hard, but that's probably in my head.

Going to put the first tune on and hopefully test in the morning.

Here's an updated graph for stock.

Will be interesting to see if that's noticeably reduced. The 40+ second one was joining the freeway in traffic. Interestingly the 7 second one is using second and changing gear. So a 3 second gain just by driving better (driver mod hehe)

Anyway 10.232 second average on a stock tune.

So the results for the first tune test are in......and it's slower. This is a new tune that I've not run before and I'm a bit worried that there is something up with the car. It's making more power than stock at peak, and showing more boost, but the power band is very reduced. Before the turbo gets spun up the power is really low and the car feels super sluggish. Once the turbo kicks in the power is fast, immediate and responsive.

I also noticed that the car is not idling correctly, sounds a bit off, and the vacuum shown on the boost gauge is only -9 versus the normal -19. I've checked all the hoses and they look fine. The car appears to be holding boost without issue too. Just super "laggy".

The car, as it stands, is the perfect example of why peak dyno numbers are largely meaningless in relation to speed on the road.

So this setup is around 2 seconds slower with the 3rd gear pull than stock. Even "cheating", and using 2nd to start, it's still about a second slower.

The plan now is to go back to a stock tune and see if that cures the idle. If not then I'll have to find the cause (maybe the PCV valve?). If it does I'll apply a known tune and see if that responds in the same manner.

I'm trying to remember how to overlay the two graphs. If/when I figure that out I'll post that too for a better comparison.

That definitely looks like the way Phase 2 acted with the NGEN turbo before I went through the dozen revisions.

Here's the comparison graph. The boost curve is very interesting, as the boost builds sooooo late. Once it's in boost you can see it picks up speed quickly, but if it was a race the stock car is gone!

I'd blame the turbo, but the stock tune handles it much better.
