Today I installed the aluminum oil cap. I've wanted one of these for years, tried to fix the raffle at the Twisted drive on numerous occasions, but 2020 is going so well that I decided that this is the year. I put this on my 2013 500c Abarth, but it will fit anything with the 1.4L multi-air engine in it (non-turbo 500s, 124s, 500L, 500X, Jeep Renegage, Dodge Dart, etc)

This one is made by Gruvenparts, but I bought it from NGen Performance: https://ngencustomsandperformance.com/s ... plications

Gruvenparts has some decent instructions (a bit wordy perhaps) here: https://www.gruvenparts.com/content/PDF ... il_DIY.pdf

The install itself is pretty straightforward, you just have to move the spring loaded oil pressure valve from your old cap to your new.

This is done by pushing the part in the middle of the oil cap to one side, push hard enough and it will just pop out.

Then you just place the spring in the middle of your new cap, put the valve back on top, aligning the little tabs to the spaces between the 4 metal tabs in the caps and push down until it pops back into place. I used a deep 27mm socket to push down to try to keep even pressure.

Conclusion
I understand why they are expensive (made from a solid block of billet aluminum), but they are still expensive compared to a stock cap (~$40). However this will never crack and the hex part will never disintegrate as you try to do an oil change. So I do feel a lot happier knowing I will never have to fight with a broken cap that doesn't want to come off, or lose my oil miles from home because the plastic cracked.

The install was so easy even I couldn't mess it up.

Now you need the Weapon-R aluminum coolant overflow tank so you don't have to worry about the plastic OEM one leaking. One year at Twisted Byron's sprung a leak on his Abarth. I don't know if they make one that will fit my Sport.
